To preface this, this is not a paid endorsement, these are my own independent views.
Razor and Blades
I am fed up with the high-cost of razor blades. I understand that men’s razors (which, I was using) are made of robust materials like, metal and rubber, and maybe even a hard aluminum, but gosh, why does it have to feel like I’m replacing a small part of my car every time I go to purchase a four pack of razor blades.
I considered buying a women’s razor, but they often times felt cheap, and the blades weren’t any better, especially considering my sensitive skin. I have experienced razor burn from razor blades before and must admit, I got to a point where I was able to identify the best pharmacy razor that worked for me, and they, unfortunately, turned out to be disposable razors. While I try to be economical in my choices when adjusting any routine, I also try to be considerate of the negative environmental impact I could be making.
Flash forward to a few weeks ago, when I was browsing through my Instagram feed, and I, fortunately, came across the ad for Flamingo. In addition to saving money on razors, I was also seeking to find new ways to save money on other parts of my personal beauty routine. Eyebrow and upper-lip waxing was a bi-weekly grooming routine of mine, and while I was happy with my aesthetician, I wouldn’t say it was an experience I felt overwhelmingly impressed with. That may sound harsh, but I walked out of the salon I was overcome with feelings of dissatisfaction and knew it was something I wanted to learn to do on my own.
I have now used my Flamingo razor, shave cream, and face waxing kit, and am very satisfied with my experience. I am not usually a fan of scented shave creams or foams, but Flamingo’s smells lovely! It comes out of the can quickly, goes on smoothly, stays on my legs, and has the most beautifully soft floral notes. I bought the lavender grey with rose gold razor, and it looks beautiful in my shower. That is another thing I appreciate about this razor, is it’s a simple design and soft yet feminine colors. The blade is well engineered in that it pivots and adjusts nicely to my leg as it glides. Full disclosure, I have relatively boney knees and found that I didn’t have to fully bend my knee for the blade to slide and trim the hairs on my leg. It pivots and adjusts that smoothly, with no cuts or scratches. The thick part at the top of the blade contributes to how smoothly the razor glides by directing the edges carefully up or down my leg, all while adding a soothing and conditioning to each run through of the shave cream.

The Waxing Kit
I purchased the face waxing kit to wax my upper lip, side-burns, and eventually, my eyebrows(I haven’t gotten to that part yet).
My experience with the waxing kit was excellent! I especially appreciate how Flamingo provides everything you need to assure you are able to prep the waxing area, and sooth it after it has been waxed. I started with waxing my upper lip and found that the wax strips work very effectively. The wax is adhesive enough to grab all my hear, and in many cases, I was able to reuse the wax strips for that area up three times—granted, my upper lip was not very hairy at the time of use.
Next, was my side-burns. This was not an area I had waxed before---neither personally or professionally. It was an area of my face that I had recently noticed had more hair than I would like, and decided was time to tame; thus, I was ready to put the Flamingo’s waxing strips to the test--and boy did they deliver. Because I had never waxed or groomed that area of my face before, I prepped the area to make waxing easier. I then cut the strips in half to fit the area I wanted to remove hair, and like butter, the skin was smooth and hair free. I can gladly and honestly say that I am 100% satisfied with all of my Flamingo products. I will definitely be buying more Flamingo blades, and wax kits, as they have proven to be gentle, effective, and easy on my bank account.
I hope this review was helpful for you, and please, if there is anything else you wish to know about my experience, don’t hesitate to email me or leave a comment—I will be glad to provide you with guidance or support.
